Bowlus is a small community that is primarily an agricultural and residential community. It is located approximately 90 miles northwest of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The city has a total area of 0.5 square miles, all of it land. The city is named after Frank Xavier Bowlus, who was responsible for developing the railroad line that runs through the city.
